Configure APN SIM on a Huawei MiFi

In order for your device to connect successfully to T|Forge’s APN solution on a Huawei MiFi device, you are required to change the APN profile information on the device.

Wherever we refer to the <APN_DOMAIN> in this guide use nerospec.com

Before Starting, make sure you have the access details to the Huawei MiFi’s Device, it is usually on the bottom of the device or in the manual:

  • IP Address (<HUAWEI_IP>), if not found on the device or manual try:

  • Username (<HUAWEI_USER>), if not on the bottom of the device try

    • admin

  • Password (<HUAWEI_PASS>), if not on the bottom of the device try

    • admin

Instructions

  1. Make sure your modem or router is connected to your PC and open a browser.

  2. In your browser type in your MiFi’s IP Address (the value you have for <HUAWEI_IP>) in the address bar to go to the Huawei Devices Management Website.

     

  3. On the Home Menu Tab click on Connection Settings just below the Carrier label e.g. MTN...

     

  4. You will be asked for your username and password.

    1. username use the value you have for <HUAWEI_USER>

    2. password use the value you have for <HUAWEI_PASS>

  5. Open the New Profile creation dialogue:

    1. Navigate to the In the Settings Menu Tab

    2. On the left-hand side, under the Dial-Up section, click on Profile Management

    3. On the right-hand side, in the Profile Management window, click on the New Profile button.

    4. The New Profile Dialog will open

  6. Configure the New Profile in the New Profile Dialog:

    1. Enter a Profile name, we called ours TForge but it can be anything.

    2. Set APN to the <APN_DOMAIN> as your APN Address.

    3. Leave username and password empty.

    4. Click Save.

  7. Activate the TForge APN Profile:

    1. After clicking the Save button, you will return to the Profile Management window.

    2. In the Profile Management window, set Profile name to TForge (or whatever you named the profile you just created).

    3. Click Apply.

  8. Check the Connection:

    1. Navigate back to the Home Menu Tab

    2. See if the connection is now Connected?

    3. If not Connected, click on the big button with two arrows.

    4. If connected the big button with two arrows should be green

  9. You have successfully set up the device to connect to your T|Forge APN!
